The alarm clock is used to mark time and act as breakpoints to remind the user of an event, at the arrival of the pre-specified time, a loud reminder will be issued to remind users to proceed or terminate the event, which interrupts the linear time of the event. Multiple and trivial schedules can be dependent on the alarm clock, this relieves the body from memory and management overload. However, with prolonged use and adaptation, alarms begin to establish strong links with the event, such as waking up and ringtones. Perception patterns formed by those links will rigidify and form perception difficulties for the user. For example, when a ringtone is misplaced, even when set by the user, the user's perception will be unable to switch to correct corresponding states, leading to incongruity of perception.
This work integrates a large number of electronic alarm clocks to form a close looped space around the viewer; alarm noises wander in space, tugging on their sensual and psychological states to create tension in the body. Arbitrarily occurring alarms will force the subject to enlarge the scope of perception to all corners, jumping and wavering in space with the alarm. The subject’s perception will be disintegrated in this spasm-like process, begging for a gap or brief rest before being reorganized.
