加拿大國家電影局（簡稱NFB）是一個獨特的文化機構，以社會紀錄片、動畫等作為創作平台，勝名遠播世界各地。創立71年來，NFB已製作超過13000作品，贏得超過5000個獎項，其中包括12項奧斯卡獎，兩項加拿大新媒體獎和兩項威比獎。

NFB的動畫先驅諾曼‧麥克拉倫的創新傳統和卓越成就，在NFB的全國總部蒙特婁設立動畫部。動畫導演可於動畫部使用任何設備製作影片，使創作者身處於製作資源充裕的環境，剛出道的動畫師並能與許多加拿大最有成就的電影人一起工作，共同分享創意和技術。近年動畫部更積極朝向國際合作的方向前進，已經跟來自法國、波蘭、葡萄牙、匈牙利、瑞士、荷蘭、日本等動畫公司及導演共同製作影片。

今年影展將會放映七部來自NFB近兩年的作品選集，您會看到各種不同的技術和敘事方式的動畫短片。

 

The National Film Board of Canada (NFB) is a unique cultural institution. It is widely known around the world for its production of excellent documentaries on social issues, animations and as a creative platform for artists.

It was established 71 years ago and has produced over 13,000 works﹔won over 5,000 awards, including 12 Academy Awards, 2 Canadian New Media Awards and 2 Webby Awards.

On top of the pioneer of NFB animation Norman McLaren’s innovation of tradition and excellence he has set up an animation department in the NFB's national headquarters in Montreal. Animation directors can use any equipment and resource in there to accomplish their works. Artists make films by hand drawing themselves from early years have moved on to computer animation and now in a resourceful environment of production where young animators can work with many of Canada's most accomplished filmmakers, share ideas and technology. This animation studio is rapidly developing and enthusiastically gathering new talents from across the country as its greenhouse program, which is to emerge and cultivate a group of young filmmakers.
In recent years, the animation department is seeking even more positively international cooperation. It has co-produced animated films with companies and directors from France, Poland, Portugal, Hungary, Switzerland, the Netherlands, and Japan.

This year the festival will be screening seven works from NFB's anthology of most recent years. The audience will see a variety in technical and narrative expression in these animation works.
